The much awaited
event finally came together on the 20th of March 2015, marking the 30th
anniversary for Finland-Malaysia association and 10th anniversary for the Embassy
of Malaysia. The event commenced at 17.45 with the arrivals of the guests and
followed by guest of honors while serenaded by the pianist for the evening Mr.
Antti.
After the welcoming
speech from Priya Sreeganthan, the current President of Finland-Malaysia’s
association, the event proceeded with a speech from Lauri Kaijansinkko, the
founder of Finland-Malaysia association with his remarkable story on how it all
begun, followed by the speech from the first Finland-Malaysia association’s
president Matti Romo and ended with the speech from the Ambassador of Malaysian
embassy, H.E Dato’ Blanche Olbery.
Next, the guests were
treated to delicious 3 course meals and a dance performance by the talented Ann
Ohjala, who did a beautiful indian dance. But that was not all, a Malaysian
dinner is not complete without a lucky draw and that was precisely what
happened next. The lucky winners of the
night were Lauri Kaijansikko himself, who won the special prize, a champange
bottle whereas Pirkko Ruotsalainen and Ville Kokkonen both won the grand
prizes, a stay at luxurious resorts in Malaysia.
Overall, it was a
nice evening and a good opportunity to all to catch up and get together.
