As the tittle suggested, Finland-Malaysia association had the privilege to organized a cooking (baking ) demo on the 28th of November. It was hosted by Diana and Julia and although the turn-ups were less than we expected, it was a nice crowd and we all enjoyed getting to know each other.
The menu for the evening were Karipap and Onde-Onde. Two Malaysian all time tea and coffee break snack and dessert. We had to improvised with the karipap but it turned out just fine and became a gluten free version instead.
Next, we moved on to Onde-Onde, made from glutinous rice flour. palm sugar, boiled and rolled over shredded coconut flakes. Everyone listened and watched carefully how it was made and soon had their chance to do it themselves. We made a mess but it was worth it!
Here the participants were showed how to extract the juice from the pandan leaves and use it to add the green colour to the onde-onde.
The end result!
After the demo session, everyone relaxed and mingled over coffee and tea.
